FDS news and info

All,

Thanks to all of you who have sent in sample slides of FDS
calculations
that you have done. These were very useful in conveying what
we do and
why we do it to our review panel. Even though the panel
review is over
for this year, we would still welcome materials from those
who haven't
sent in anything yet. Ironically, I have received more
materials from
overseas than from the US, a point not lost on the review
panel. So let's
here it from the US. Remember, just one or two Powerpoint
slides with a
Smokeview picture, name of the engineers, company or
institution
and brief description, plus a one page Word or PDF document
describing
your work with the model.

Also, David McGill from Seneca College, Canada, conducted a
distance
learning course on FDS this year. He says he had more
students than he
could handle, so he is planning another course in
May-August. For those
interested see http://ilearn.senecac.on.ca/fire/fds/

The SFPE also offers training for FDS. Those interested
should check the
web site sfpe.org

Finally, several inquiries have been made about a parallel
version of FDS.
We are developing this for work on the WTC investigation. We
still have
a ways to go, but hope to have something to test later this
year.

That's all for now.

Kevin
