Smokeview 4.0.2 available for download

SMOKEVIEW NEWS

A new Smokeview (version 4.0.2) fixing minor bugs has been posted to 
http://fire.nist.gov/fds.  Several people reported bugs in Smokeview and 
in the User's guide  (thanks to Charlie, Doug, Jan, Javier,  Lisa,  
Sylvain). 

As features are added, it is getting harder and harder to make changes 
without causing problems elsewhere (in Smokeview) hence the bugs.  
Several of the reported bugs were for features that used to work!    So 
I need volunteers to exercise EVERY Smokeview feature, menu item, dialog 
box etc to shake it down.   A good place to start would be to test 
Smokeview with one of the cases in the sample4 directory.   If you are 
interested or college teachers know of any students that you can 
interest, contact me at glenn.forney@nist.gov .

A one page PDF Smokeview handout summarizing Smokeview and giving a few 
technical details on how the realistic smoke is implemented is now 
available for download in the Documentation section.

FDS NEWS

A new FDS (version 4.03) fixing minor bugs has been posted also.   No 
algorithms have changed.   So we don't expect the output results to be 
different.

FDS has been built for a number of platforms.  They may be downloaded 
from http://fire.nist.gov/download (then click on the link under the 
"Other" heading).    If anyone has built FDS on a computer not listed 
and would like to contribute the executable then contact Kevin McGrattan 
at kevin.mcgrattan@nist.gov .  We need statically linked builds - no 
run-time linking to dynamic libraries.
