All
PyroSim, a graphical user interface (GUI) for FDS, has
recently been released. Details can be found at
www.pyrosim.com
Note that PyroSim was developed by a company called
Thunderhead Engineering with the support of an SBIR (Small
Business Innovation Research) grant from the National
Science Foundation. NIST was not directly involved in the
SBIR process, but we have provided information to the
developers to help in their efforts. We have also decided
not to develop a GUI of our own. We will continue to develop
FDS and Smokeview, and continue to release these programs
into the public domain. PyroSim is a commercial product, and
its distribution is the responsibility of Thunderhead
Engineering.
Those of you who use PyroSim to develop input files for FDS
need to be aware that we at NIST cannot help "debug" input
files created with PyroSim. I assume there will be support
provided by Thunderhead on the use of PyroSim, but keep in
mind that the ultimate responsibility for an FDS calculation
rests solely with you. Every single number in the input MUST
be checked by you. The developers of PyroSim are not experts
in fire modeling, and we are not experts in graphical user
interfaces, CAD, etc.
