I like your object and a school project inspired me to create a Java Matrix object.  The focus was to make it thread safe and create a decentralized deadlock avoidance algorithm that prevents starvation at worst case log(n). I uploaded it to source forge. Its basic in form (I haven't included LU decomposition, determinants, etc) but I'd appreciate if any of you had free time if you could check it out and give me feedback. I use temporal and spacial cache efficiency in its design.
