Two Items

Folks - two items for your information.

First, as some of you may have noticed, our gits-sec.treas.gov web page
needs some substantial updating and improving. As I mentioned at the last
Steering Committee meeting, our web mistress departed in May and we are
going through with her replacement what changes we want to see on the web
page (and its hyperlinks) so as to make it more current and attractive.
The new web master is working on those changes, and hopefully in the
not-too-distant future will have them implemented. In the meantime, if you
need something that is unavailable on the web site, contact me or Brant
Petrick (brant.petrick@cio.treas.gov) and we'll be happy to help. I
appreciate your patience on this, and let me assure you that I am pressing
as hard as possible to get this solved quickly because I realize, as you
do, that our presence on the web has to both look good and be good.

Second, as some of you are aware, I was apprised recently that the
Federation of Government Information Processing Councils (FGIPC) has
selected the Federal Bridge CA to receive an award at their annual
Management of Change conference next week in Atlanta. On behalf of the
Steering Committee, I will be flying down to accept the award on the 28th.
The award will repose at GSA (since that is where we have all of our
meetings, and since GSA ran the effort to develop the prototype FBCA and
continues to run the effort to develop the production FBCA) so everyone
will have a chance to see it at the next Steering Committee meeting on the
10th. I wanted to express my deep gratitude to everyone who contributed to
this effort - and there are lots of you out there, who directly or
indirectly assisted. Further, I want to ensure everyone understands that
while receiving this award is most gratifying, that this is a laurel upon
which we have no intention of resting. Rather, I understand - as do all of
you - that real success will come when the production FBCA is operational,
cross-certified with agencies, and actually supporting production
interagency PKI use. That is the goal we are really striving for.

So very best regards to all of you, and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
-- Rich
