Hash Workshop Program Ready and Posted

I am pleased to announce that the agenda for the Cryptographic Hash Workshop has been finalized and posted on the workshop web site http://www.csrc.nist.gov/pki/HashWorkshop/program.htm .

Please note that

1. The workshop registration will close on Oct. 21, 2005, and no on-site registrations will be accepted. Photo identification must be presented at the main gate Visitor's Center to be admitted to the conference.

2. Hotel rooms must be reserved by Oct. 14, 2005 to receive the preferred (Government) rate. For further information, please refer to the workshop web site http://www.csrc.nist.gov/pki/HashWorkshop/index.html .

3. All sessions including Q&A will be videotaped.

4. If you have important new results on the SHA family hash functions, please notify Shu-jen Chang or Sara Caswell (hash-function@nist.gov) by COB 10/26/2005.  Please send sufficient information in lieu of a formal paper to allow for a technical evaluation. Once approved, a time slot will be arranged for its presentation.

5. If you are a speaker, please try to limit last-minute changes to your presentation material. If you must make last-minute changes, please notify Sara Caswell as early as possible, but no later than the session before yours ends, so that she will have time to load your final presentation onto the workshop laptop. As the session time is very limited, we prefer to use one laptop and not swap laptops and setups. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

6. As we have certain issues that we'd like to address, the moderators of the discussion sessions will send out a list of topics to the panelists before the workshop takes place. Panelists, please review these topics beforehand and come prepared to address these issues. Your insights on these issues will be very much appreciated.

7. For this workshop, we have invited Professor Andrew C.Yao, a Turing Award Recipient (2000), to participate in the workshop and also give a talk on Recent Progress in Quantum Complexity at 1-3 PM on 11/2/2005 (the day following the official close of the workshop).

Please mark your calendar and let Sara Caswell (sara@nist.gov) know (your name and affiliation), if you plan to come to this NIST Colloquium Series presentation. This registration is independent of your registration to the Hash Workshop. Currently the AML (Advanced Measurement Laboratory) Conference Room is reserved for this presentation, but please verify the location again at the time of the workshop. Details about the presentation will be available at the workshop web site soon, and flyers will be available at the workshop as well. For your information, Professor Yao's Bio is attached.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the workshop.

Sincerely,
Shu-jen Chang
The Workshop Program Committee
