ldapadd fails on SuSE 9.3

All,

Attempts to load the PKITS test data (v1.0) with ldapadd on a SuSE Linux 9.3 distribution fail with the following message:

  ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: No such attribute (16)

Before beginning, let me ask is this the appropriate forum for this discussion? If so, I can post more detail. If not, can someone suggest a more appropriate venue?
