The Computer Society of the IEEE has recently initiated a project to
develop an industry-owned standard for security in operating
systems. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
plans to be actively involved in this project due to our desire to
promote industry standards for use by the Federal government.
This IEEE project may be of interest to you and we would welcome
participation. The project is in its early stages and its website
is:
http://ieee-tfia.org/csppos/index.html.
Please note that while the project initiator has decided to start with a
NIST developed OS requirement set, the goal is not to make this the IEEE
standard, but rather to truly develop a standard owned by
industry.
Yours truly,
Gary Stoneburner
