Hi,
Appended is a short version of the call to participate in the Video Retrieal
Evaluation (TRECVID) 2003. As indicated below, the full call appears on the
trecvid website. As the call explains, applications for participation in
TRECVID 2003 should be made to NIST by Feb 10.
As part of preparing for TRECVID 2003, the trecvid email discussion list has
been changed to a vehicle for NIST to make infrequent, general announcements
to friends of TRECVID. Posting to it is no longer possible. A new email
discussion list will be set up for use by active participants in TRECVID 2003
- mainly starting after the final proceedings papers from TREC 2002 are
submitted in early February.
Call for Participation
TREC Video Retrieval Workshop (TRECVID)
January 2003 - November 2003
Conducted by:
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
With support from:
Advanced Research and Development Activity (ARDA)
In 2001 and 2002 the Text Retrieval Conference (TREC) series, which
encourages and facilitates research in information retrieval,
sponsored a video track devoted to research in automatic segmentation,
indexing, and content-based retrieval of digital video. Beginning in
2003, this track will become an independent 2-day workshop taking
place just before TREC.
The new workshop will address segmentation, feature extraction, and
search tasks using news video from 1998 in MPEG-1 format.
Dissemination of TRECVID work and results other than in the (publicly
available) workshop proceedings is welcomed, but the conditions of
participation specifically preclude any advertising claims based on
TRECVID results. All retrieval results submitted to NIST are
published in the Proceedings and are archived on the TRECVID web site.
TRECVID particpants must submit results for at least one task in order
to attend the workshop in November.
The complete call for participation is available on the TRECVID home page,
