Re: Some Questions on Video Annotation

Dear Wendy,

  (1) Yes, we have to annotate commercials. In the detection task, we need
to find related shots in videos, regardless of commercials or news.

  (2) Either way is fine. You can develop a new lexicon and suggest to add
it for the next round of annotation.

  (3) news-subject-monologue is a sub category of monologue. Thus, if you
see monologues made by news person, you can select monologue. If you see
monologue made by news subject then only select the news_subject_monologue.

Dear Dr Lin,

I have some questions on video annotation :

   1) Do we need to annotate commercials in the news video?

   2) When there are static scenes that does not correspond to any of the
choices, do we try our best to fit it into the one of the choices or do you
want us to define a new choice (lexicon).

   3) Regarding monologue & news-subject monologue :
As I can't seem to find the actual definition for both of this, I
would to clarify if they mean what I have assumed below,
monologue : there exist speech which is actually spoken by the
news-reporter in the studio.
news-subject monlogue : there exist speech which is actually spoken by
any other person except the
                                           news-reporter in the studio.

Can you highlight the mistakes for me?

Thank you,
